The National Black Graduate Student Association (NBGSA) is ecstatic to announce Philadelphia/Valley Forge, Pennsylvania as the host site for its 2012 national conference. The 24th Annual National Black Graduate Student Conference (NBGSC) is set for March 14-17, 2012 under the theme “Claiming Your Place in Uncommon Spaces.” The organization expects hundreds of graduate and undergraduate students from around the country to be in attendance.

NBGSC is a scholarly conference where networking and academic, professional and social opportunities occur. The gathering creates for planning, fact-finding and/or problem solving in face-to-face groups with high participation. Conferees come from universities around the nation to present their work in roundtable discussions and poster sessions. Many conferees also enjoy interacting in general sessions, seminars, and workshops facilitated by nationally, regionally, and locally recognized presenters. The NBGSA also holds it general assembly and annual business meetings at the NBGSC.

NBGSC’s leadership has been working diligently over the past several months to develop a conference agenda suitable to the interests and needs of its core constituency. With a host of speakers representing various disciplines and professions along with engaging research presentations and panels, career and graduate school fair, networking with a community of scholars, great food, historic traditions, and entertainment, this will definitely be a conference that you will not want to miss!

I invite you to explore the NBGSC website and learn more about how you can present your research or organize a panel discussion around an interesting and engaging topic, get updates on the conference agenda and confirmed speakers, and register to be a conference attendee. I would also like to direct your attention to our membership page so that you can learn more about the national organization, how to become a member, and the benefits of membership.

NBGSC 2012 awaits you!

Respectfully,
